Initial Ratings show interest is down in American Idol and its New Judges

The Nielson Co. says that 26.1 Million people saw the two hour season premier of “American Idol” that aired Wednesday night, A 13 percent drop in viewers from last years 29.9 Million people who saw last years season debut. It also suffered an 18 percent drop in the younger audience which is the Fox networks target.

Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmiths Steve tyler were on for the first time as judges, Their style of judging much nicer than Simon Cowell who has left the show. Simon was a big part of the show’s popularity last year with his often harsh and “tell it how it is” personality making many a contestant cry.
